| Thank God it's summer!! we all needed a break! (if you can
call house repairs a break). We've all been busy getting our Twain
Harte House is good shape... first we sell, then we don't, then we do,
then we don't. I'm losing my mind. Now, it's for
rent. Good news, I had 3 calls about it on the first full day
after the ad went in. I'm hoping ONE of the three turns out to be
a great-long term- renter. They won't get a house in better
cosmetic shape-- having just been getting it ready to sell. (it has to
be beautiful). ha.
Went to R-Ranch for a quickie day-trip. It was fun. took my
(sort-of) niece and her new boyfriend up for a horseback ride, and some
time in the huge pool. It was a nice day, but, excruciatingly
hot. The girls & I will be going up there for the 4th of July
weekend. More horses, and friends we haven't seen for a long
time. David will be going to show the Twain Harte House to the
prospective renters, and Chris is going to a friend's house for a
tradition at 4th of July. So, our family will not be together...
which is a little wierd to some people...but, I guess it's the way
things will be, as the kids grow up & leave.
sigh. Maybe one of them will invite me for some
BBQ.
My aunt from Mississippi will be visiting this next two weeks
also. Their son lost his house in Katrina. He's living with
them in a travel trailer, until he can build another house. It's
still a mess down there & progress is slow. Keep those folks
in your prayers.

| Well, we had a fabulous trip in April & May. Took lots of photos & drove everyone crazy with the camcorder!
Bahamas was interesting.... we took a "city tour" with a stop at the
"Atlantis" resort. whew pretty fancy. The city tour
consisted of 8 people crammed into a tiny with mini-van of sorts, and
driving around the city. "here is the government building on your
left, on your right is the auto service yard for govt. vehicles (kind
of cute what they thought was noteworthy) along with some more
interesting info, on Fort Charlotte- used since Pirate days & so
on.), and a couple of churches built in the 1700's and 1800's.
Some of the dwellings were small, and some vacant, some windows out,
etc. Obviously, not a great economy there. I imagine
tourism is their biggest income. Lots of souvenir stands carrying
similar merchandise. yes, I bought a couple of things.
(what, me not shop?)
The cruise ship was a snaller, older ship in the fleet. The rooms were
pretty small, but, the ship overall was laid out well. I liked
the large walking track around deck 7. This was also a good spot for
many of the photos taken on board. The food as always, was
incredible (evidenced by my minimum of 5 lbs gained for a 4.5 day
trip... I'm still afraid to hit the real scale). Cococay which is
the private Island owned by Royal Caribbean was very nice. very
clean & beautiful beach areas. The kids went snorkeling &
had a blast. I walked around a bit, did some shopping (yes, there
were shops here too) and read a book. very relaxing. Royal
provided a BBQ lunch on the island, and that was good too.
The comedian onboard the ship was pretty funny, and we watched one
show...which was okay. generally, they are not my
thing. We went to the pool one evening & did the hot
tub thing. It was nice at night... we watched them preparing the
midnight buffet, but, no one had room to eat anything & we all went
to bed before it was served.
Then there was Disney... Orange Lake Country Club as always was
very nice (we've stayed there like 3 times before over the last 10
years.) Mickey & Minnie were great & Disney was
fun. We tried some new rides....and hey, they got ME on Space
Mountain, and Rocking Roller Coaster.... (this is BIG NEWS since I do
not like roller coasters- at all) but, I caved under pressure &
survived. I went like 3 times. Still refused to do Tower
of Terror (13 story drop) no thanks.
Well, hope to get some great photos printed & scrapbook the trip. That should take me awhile.
Now, it's back to work & finishing off the school year. All good things come to an end.

| Went to Sonora last weekend... had to come home EARLY because of record
snowfall. It was beautiful! but a tad treacherous trying to
get out. Looks like we will try to go back on the 24-25th if the
weather is decent. David is in Carlsbad on business, and comes
back Thursday... guess we'll be going to a birthday party on
Saturday. What a group will be there.. last year was the MOST
HILARIOUS time I've had in a long time.. I think my lungs actually HURT
from all the laughing. Looking forward to it.
Been to a "formal committee" meeting today, things are coming
together. Should be great fun..I just LOVE to see all the young
people dressed up! I think we should plan regular FORMAL
occasions.. just so they have an excuse to wear those fancy clothes.

| Stacey starts her new job TODAY. I feel like she's going off to
kindergarten or something. I sent her off with a little bag
of snacks... how mommy-like. ha ha . She's definately
grown up., and boy did she look GREAT in her new tan suit, with aqua
top. Dave has already told the ladies in the dept. to look out
for her, and keep the WOLVES away, or they'll be dealing with
HIM!! ha (he's only a couple of cubicles away, and will
probably be looking over the cubicle walls from time to time.... ha).
Everyone seems to like Rachel's new cinnamon hair color... though, I'm
not sure she's decided to give up her "blonde" forever, ha.
We'll see how that goes. Clairol may have to help us get her back
there, since it's so much darker now. LOL

| continued from Cousin's trip:
Stephanie & Dean had a great trip... on Friday they ventured off
alone and went to SFO again.... they went across the Golden Gate
Bridge, stopped & did all the tourist photos. Then they went
into Sausalito & wandered around. Eventually, they went back
to Von & Glen's house. The girls & I had just arrived
(bringing yummy desserts), David came after work, and Chris and Loni
came when he got off work at 7:00pm. We had a nice evening.
Mostly spent sitting around the dining room table, and hearing Papaw
tell many of his "stories" some true, some largely
fictional. We finally left around 9:30pm, knowing they had alot
of packing & preparing to leave yet to do. They again invited
us to visit San Antonio, and I'm thinking we might just do it....
: )
